1. Who we are
This website is operated by Precision Stoneworks Ltd (company number 17455284) (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy for the purposes of UK data protection law.
If you have any question about this policy or how we handle your information, you can contact us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
We only collect information that you choose to give us, or that is generated by your use of this website in the ways described below. We do not require you to create an account to use this site.
Quote requests
When you submit our Quote Request form, we collect:
- your full name, email address and phone number;
- your company name, if you provide one;
- your postcode;
- the product or material you are interested in, or an indication that you are not yet sure and would like our help choosing;
- the type of project the quote relates to;
- an approximate area, if you provide one;
- any measurements and layout information you enter using our interactive worktop layout tool (for example, the shape, lengths, depths and quantities of the pieces you are enquiring about);
- any message or additional details you choose to add; and
- any files you choose to upload (for example, a sketch or floor plan), together with basic file information such as the file name, file type and file size.
Sample requests
When you submit our Sample Request form, we collect:
- your full name and email address;
- your phone number and company name, if you provide them;
- the delivery address and postcode we should send samples to;
- the products (up to five) you have selected; and
- any message you choose to add.
Information generated automatically
When you submit a Quote or Sample request, we temporarily use the IP address associated with the request to help protect the website from automated abuse and spam, including rate limiting. It is not stored as part of your Quote or Sample request record.
Optional website analytics
If you choose to accept optional analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 on the public pages of this website. Google Analytics may process information such as the pages you visit, session and interaction information, browser and device information, approximate location and a pseudonymous client identifier stored in an analytics cookie.
Google states that, for users in the United Kingdom, individual IP addresses are used during collection for functions such as deriving approximate location and routing data to an appropriate collection centre, and are discarded before Analytics logs the data.
Google Analytics is not loaded unless you actively choose to accept analytics. Our restricted administration area is not included in this public-site analytics integration. We do not use this implementation for Google Ads or advertising remarketing. See our Cookie Policy for details about the cookies involved and how to change your choice.
Getting in touch directly
Our Contact page does not itself contain a form. It provides our telephone number, email address and postal address so you can reach us directly. If you email or call us, we will handle the information you give us in that message in line with this policy.
3. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- respond to your enquiry and correspond with you about it;
- prepare and manage quotations, including assessing the measurements and requirements of your project;
- arrange the supply and delivery of samples you have requested;
- manage any project or order that results from your enquiry, and communicate with you about it;
- help protect our website and services from fraud, abuse and misuse;
- where you have accepted optional analytics, understand how the public website is used and improve its content, performance and usability;
- keep appropriate business, accounting and tax records; and
- comply with our other legal obligations.
We do not currently use the information you submit through these forms for marketing purposes, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
4. Our legal bases for using your information
Under UK data protection law, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Steps taken at your request before a contract: when you ask us for a quote or a sample, we use your information to take the steps you have asked for, in preparation for a possible contract with you.
- Performance of a contract: once you place an order with us, we use your information to fulfil that contract (for example, to arrange fabrication, delivery and installation).
- Legitimate interests: we temporarily use your IP address, in a limited way, to protect our website against abuse — an interest we consider is reasonably balanced against your own privacy interests given how limited and short-lived this use is.
- Consent: where you choose to enable optional Google Analytics, we rely on your consent for the related analytics processing. You can withdraw that consent at any time using Cookie settings in the website footer, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Legal obligation: we may need to use or keep certain information (for example, invoicing details) to meet our accounting and tax obligations.
We do not rely on consent as a general basis for handling Quote, Sample or ordinary customer-enquiry information. Consent is used specifically for optional website analytics as described above.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share it with the following categories of recipient, only where necessary for the purposes described in this policy:
- our email delivery provider, which sends the confirmation and notification emails generated when you submit a form;
- our website hosting and infrastructure providers, and our cloud storage provider (used to securely store files you upload with a Quote request);
- Google, where you have accepted optional Google Analytics, so that it can provide website measurement and analytics services to us;
- our professional advisers, such as accountants, where reasonably necessary; and
- regulators, law enforcement or other public authorities, where we are required to do so by law.
Our website includes the technical ability to connect to third-party business systems (customer relationship management tools) to help manage enquiries. As of the date of this policy, we do not have any such system actively connected, and no enquiry data is currently sent to one. If we do enable one in the future, we will update this policy to name the provider and explain how it uses your information before doing so.
6. International transfers
Some of the providers we use store or process information outside the UK. In particular, our email delivery provider, Resend, primarily processes data in the United States, and our infrastructure and storage provider, Cloudflare, may also process data outside the UK. Both providers contractually commit to appropriate UK data protection safeguards for these transfers — in each case, the UK-approved International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (the “UK Addendum”). Where a provider offers an additional recognised transfer mechanism, such as a Data Privacy Framework certification, they may also rely on that alongside the UK Addendum.
If you accept optional Google Analytics, Google may also process analytics information outside the UK as part of providing that service. Google publishes information about the safeguards it uses for international transfers relating to its analytics and measurement products, which may include recognised transfer frameworks and contractual safeguards where applicable.
If you would like more information about the safeguards that apply to a particular transfer, please contact us at [email protected].
7. How long we keep your information
We do not currently apply fixed retention periods to every category of information. Instead, we keep information for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected for, taking into account:
- whether your enquiry has led to an ongoing project or customer relationship;
- our legal and accounting obligations to retain certain business records;
- whether we need the information to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; and
- our general practice of not keeping personal information for longer than we reasonably need it.
Where we no longer have a genuine need to keep information, we take steps to delete or anonymise it securely.
For our Google Analytics property, event data retention and user data retention are both configured to 14 months. The setting that resets the user-data retention period when a user returns is disabled. The browser cookie durations used for analytics are described separately in our Cookie Policy.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information you provide, including restricting access to data on a need-to-know basis and using dedicated, access-controlled storage for uploaded files. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you generally have the right to:
- ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict our use of your information, in certain circumstances;
- object to our use of your information, as described below; and
- ask us to provide certain information to you, or transfer it to another organisation, in a structured, commonly used format, where this applies to the information concerned.
Withdrawing analytics consent. If you have accepted optional analytics, you can withdraw that consent at any time using Cookie settings in the website footer. When you reject analytics, our website disables further Google Analytics collection and attempts to remove the Google Analytics cookies previously set by this website.
Right to object. Where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis — for example, our limited, temporary use of your IP address to help prevent automated abuse and spam — you have the right to object to that processing on grounds relating to your particular situation. This is not an unconditional right: if you object, we will consider your objection and, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, we will stop that processing.
Not every right applies in every situation — this depends on the legal basis we rely on and the type of information involved. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly first.
10. Automated decision-making
We do not use your personal information to make decisions about you solely by automated means that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Any product recommendations shown on this website are general suggestions based on the options you select, not a decision made about you, and every quotation is reviewed by a person before it is issued.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our website, our processes, or the law. Where we make a material change, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
